Job DescriptionGeneral Summary:The Senior Analyst is a member of Vertex's Financial Planning & Analysis team supporting a number of functions by providing financial analyses including identification of key value drivers and business key performance indicators (KPIs). Helps functions achieve their short- and long-term goals through proactive day-to-day decision support. The role ensures relevant functional activities are reflected in company budgets, forecasts, and long-range planning. The role will build analytics and models to aid functional management in decision-making.Key Duties and Responsibilities:Conduct the financial performance management process for assigned functions (i.e., objective setting, tracking budget versus actuals, etc.), including the monthly forecast process, with a focus on supporting business operations and decisions through an understanding of the key drivers of short-term performance and communicating the range of possible outcomesSupport the financial planning process (e.g., budget, forecast, long range plan) for assigned functions to provide relevant, forward-looking observations, develop key scenarios, and identify key risks/uncertainties and plans for potential mitigationParticipate in the monthly / quarterly accounting close for expenses and accruals, including compliance with SOX control requirementsMay lead various projects within the Finance organizationSupport business case-based decision-making for investmentsConduct headcount reporting, forecasting and planningWork closely with other members of the Finance organization to maintain a continuous improvement mindset and promote strong communication and efficient processesKnowledge and Skills:Experience in the Biotechnology/Pharmaceutical industryStrong skills in Excel and PowerPointKnowledge of HyperionSolid business acumen and judgment, and knowledge of the company's markets/products and industry trendsDeveloped communication skills, both written and verbalComprehensive understanding of accounting and finance principles, financial modeling and valuations with strong financial analysis, interpretation skillsAbility to work independently under general guidance, take initiative and complete tasks to deadlinesEducation and Experience:Bachelor's Degree in Finance or AccountingTypically requires 2 years of relevant financial experience or equivalent combination of education and experience#HYBRID#LI-MF1At Vertex, we embrace continuous learning and encourage employees to stay informed on advances in AI, technology, automation, and industry trends. This role is eligible for an annual bonus and annual equity awards. Some roles may also be eligible for overtime pay, in accordance with federal and state requirements.
